'The consistent mental challenge of tackling each mission is what makes it so captivating, relying on strategy over spectacle. That's not what everyone is looking for in their games, but those who are will find it in droves in Deus Ex: Human Revolution.'

'It has its issues, but its the world, the setting, and the story that make Human Revolution great. These aspects of the game are so solid that I happily waded through the game's low points in search of the next hackable terminal or other flavor-filled bit of dialogue or text. That stuff is so strong that, unless you're an extreme stickler for the above-mentioned problems, you'll more than likely be able to look past the game's weak points as well.'

'The problematic gunplay and annoying stealth takedown mechanics keep the game from greatness, but if played a certain way, Human Revolution captures the spirit of its predecessors and can be a blast. Even if it's not a masterpiece, this entry lays the groundwork for a promising future for the series.'

'This is an extensive (20-plus hours) game that by the very nature of its complexity invites replay. It is true that many of its individual elements don't withstand close inspection. But those elements add up to an impressive and absorbing adventure that invites you to improvise.'

'A smart, rewarding piece of transhumanist noir that does justice not just to Deus Ex, but to the fiction that inspired it.'

'It's obvious how much time Eidos Montreal has spent on Deus Ex: Human Revolution and behind the wonderful design is a solid game with a plot that will keep you guessing. This is a quality product in the same class as Dead Space 2 and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and I'm sure it will be in many of the 2011 awards lists.'

'Much like great sci-fi fantasy, Deus Ex: Human Revolution never allows you to feel like you have total control or that you know everything going on in the overarching story. In this case though, it also doesn't allow you to feel as if you are an outsider looking in. This is as much your own human revolution as it is Adam Jensen's.'

'It sports refined, detailed gameplay that's tailored to the way you want to play, backed up by some of the best level design in the last decade. The glitches blemish the experience just enough that they should have warranted a little more development time, but at the end of the day, this is still a great game that no one should miss out on.'

'It's rare that I play a game that doesn't just let me play the way I like, but actually showers me with prizes for doing so, and I love it.'

'In a stealth genre that's been abandoned by its heroes on current-gen platforms, Deus Ex: Human Revolution remains true to its roots and provides the sequel that we'd all hoped for but feared would never live up to the billing. Games don't get much better than this.'
